Michael Gilsenan F.B.D.O. Dip School Vision


Michael has been practising as a Dispensing Optician for over 30 years and is a former president of the Irish Association of Dispensing Opticians. 

He is passionate about improving awareness of the importance of vision in children who are underachieving in school. He has been asked to speak at conferences in Ireland and the UK. 

He has featured on both BBC and RTE television. Michael introduced orthoscopics to Ireland, a system whereby prescribed tinted lenses are used to help patients with reading, coordination and sensory difficulties. 

In 2009 he became the first Optician in Ireland to obtain a diploma in school vision.
